    Short But Sweet…I Hope

Poetry Prompt Day 20: Let’s talk about love, baby. I didn’t do the poetic form, the Loop poem. I’ll give that a try another day.  And, today’s poem is rather short but I hope it’s as strong as I felt when I wrote it. I did try to make it longer but every stanza I wrote just paled beside it. So, I left it as is. Hopefully, it speaks volumes. xo Jesi Drought By Jesi Scott   Like a desert with no rain, I’m thirsting for water. Quench this arid land, And let the oasis flower. +10

    Dear Despair, Here’s A Hug

I had a full weekend so I have been catching up with the poetry prompts I missed while I was busy. So, if you signed up for email notifications/posts you will be/have received three separate email posts. I apologize for spamming your inbox. But I’m all caught up and hopefully will not be doing that again. No promises though. October is always a frantically busy month for me. Today’s prompt  is a form. Click the link to find out more about it. I’m fairly certain that I did not follow the prompt’s conventions but I did try to follow it as I understood it. One sentence for each “Dear.” I…

The Most Dangerous Thing About Kids

Day 18 poetry prompt: Today’s prompt we’re going to add a little mystery to our lives. Look around you, whether it’s a physical object or people in general in your life. Chose something or someone and give them a double life.   I decided to have a little Halloween fun with this prompt. Although, with as many toys as I’ve gotten rid of over the years through donations or having to throw away for *various* reasons, maybe I should sleep with one eye open from now on.   xo Jesi   And You Thought Toys Were Safe By Jesi Scott   Oftentimes I wonder, when all the house is dark,…

When A Joke Becomes A Serious Thing

I’m not even going to try and explain today’s poetry prompt. Click the link and go read about it. All I can say is Billy Collins has a wicked sense of humor, and yes, I did the prompt. Well, except for the subject but I’m not sure there is a subject. Instead, we had to write in a poetic form, a Paradelle. Just click the link…it’ll explain it. Needless, to say I found it challenging and fun. And I hope I got all the words. What Would You Do?

Today’s poetry prompt is to write about conquering the world. What if you had no boundaries, nothing counted, and you could do anything you want. Basically, pretend you are Bill Murray reliving Groundhog Day for one day. What would you do? There is only one thing I would do. I would spend one more day with my dad. I would show him how his passing has made me stronger, how it pushed me to begin stepping out of my comfort zones, and how proud I am to be his daughter. Have a great Thursday! xo Jesi   Limitless By Jesi Scott     If the sky were the limit And there…

    For Pete’s Sake…

Apologies. Yesterday, I was unable to submit anything for the OctPoWriMo prompt because I ended up having to wear an eye patch on an eye which left my other eye for me to see with…and I am apparently blind as a bat with little depth perception in that eye. I think what may have happened is that while I was outside in my backyard some pollen got in my eye (you would not believe the amount of pollen out there right now-it covers everything) and I am apparently very ocularly allergic to pollen. I felt as if the Snow Queen’s mirror had broken and that the shard of glass was…

    Head, Meet Desk…

Holy son of a motherless goat! No, oh heck no. I am NOT doing this prompt again. I had to write an Abecedarian (ABC Darian) poem this April past, and it was not my favorite thing to write. Hmph. Okay. You know what? I’ll put up the one I wrote in April and I’ll think about writing a new one today. IF, and that’s a really big “if”, I can get my brain wrapped around the notion of actually sitting down and pulling out a mental dictionary to write a decent abecedarian then I will. It may be posted late but I will try to consider a new one. Good…

    Getting Through The Small Days

Dear Tamara, If I could sing about a time when I experienced the kind of success I think you are talking about in today’s poetry prompt, I would. But I don’t feel much like singing today. Instead, I am going to simply celebrate the fact that I got through this small day by posting today’s poem on success then going to have a glass of wine and read something beautiful. Explore Your Wild Side

I don’t know about y’all, but I’m having a fairly decent day. I took the younger boys to the park while my second oldest is at a band competition, and in a few hours my neighbors are throwing a party and they’ve invited us. The kids get to play while the adults have wine and chat. So, today’s poetry challenge prompt definitely made me smile. Write wild today. Explore your wild/primal side and let it loose in your writing. Here’s the kicker…I had the hardest time thinking of anything to write for it. That may have been due to the fact that I didn’t actually feel like writing for it…

    It’s Elemental, My Dear Sherlock

I have no excuses for posting late today. I procrastinated quite deliberately. I’ve sort of had the doldrums the past few days and I managed to work myself out of them by getting out of the house, away from the kids, and going to go see The Martian. (Go see that, it’s good. One of the funnest soundtracks, in my opinion.) I only just finished my poem for today’s poetry prompt, which is to write about the elements. I’m not going to say anything about the inspiration behind it; suffice it to say that this time, I’d rather the poem keep its mystery. I think that’s part of its beauty. Hope…
