    Talkin’ ‘Bout Things

Thing the First: Son 3 finished his homework in record time yesterday: 3 pages in 30 minutes (four if you count math front and back but he only has to do even or odd numbers depending on the day-still…it’s multiplying fractions, ’nuff said). We struggle every day getting him to do ANY kind of writing. He hates it, and I don’t mean like he hates ketchup. I mean like Dark Side of The Force hates writing. Since Kindergarten. The last one and a half weeks he’s been getting his homework done without too much urging on my part. (We hates math. Simply hates it.) It’s awesome. How and why?…

    For My British Wench

So, I’m just sitting down and pulling Tornado into my lap to rock him to sleep. My eye falls onto this very special card and poem that a Very Special Someone sent me. And as I’m thinking about Her, a line pops into my head. As it does so, a song begins playing on Pandora, which I turned on to help Tornado fall asleep. The song that plays could not speak any more plainly to remind me of my friend. And as soon as Tornado has fallen to sleep and been put into his bed, I began to write. I hope She likes it. <3 Jesi   The Diamond with…

Monday’s Muse: A Poem About Hemingway

Things are rather busy here today so I’m just going to drop this here and run. Today’s poem took shape because I had just glanced over at a book on my shelf and wondered who the author’s muse could have been. Voilá! A poem was born. Happy Monday everyone. xo Jesi   Hemingway’s Muse By Jessica Scott     I wonder if Hemingway knew his Muse. Did he really know how he came to be inspired to write at all? Was it an embrace, A tap on the shoulder, A soft caress? He was born with the glorious, burdensome gift of talent- But Prometheus gave him the fire. 0-1

    Reblogged From For Love Of…

From my friend Amber’s blog:   We are just right… There seems to be a theme going on lately. I am not sure what is going on, but it is maddening! First it started with a conversation with my mom that broke my heart. Then yesterday, I came across three blog posts by three different beautiful women and it had me pissed off. It’s not a secret in life that most of us are not 100% happy with ourselves. If given a free pass to change anything about our bodies, I am sure each of us could without a blink of an eye come up with several different things we would…

    A Poem A Day for 31 Days

My friend CJ, whom I reference often, has decided to do a challenge: write 31 poems in 31 days. It’s called OctPoWriMo. She tweeted me and thought I’d be interested, but I really thought it would be too much for me to do this month. October is terribly busy with kids in band and elementary school happenings like fall carnivals and parent/teacher conferences. However, I’ve been reading CJ’s poem submissions for the challenge, and it’s inspired me to try. But I’m behind. By several days. So, I thought I’d play catch up. I’ll write two poems until I get each day up to the current one done. Sound good? I…

    My Writing Process

Sorry I went AWOL yesterday. Life decided to interrupt and throw a curveball my way. But, today is going better and I’ve had some much needed rest. By the way, Friday night was a blast. I went to a bar/pub with some friends from back in high school for a Spring Break party they were throwing. Then after we ate at the bar/pub, we went to a local club where I got to people watch and dance. I’m not a party girl so I don’t get drunk. I’d rather have a few drinks, dance, and watch everyone. I actually got sat on by a guy and laughed about it the…

    Desiderata

Tonight I am struggling to find something to write. The words just will not come. I am heartsore this evening and, therefore, have decided to take a rest from things for the night. But I did want to put something inspiring up tonight so that tomorrow, or the next time I am feeling down, I can look at this and remember that even when I am feeling down I can find something inspiring inside me. Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and…

    Make It Count

“For a new year to bring you something new, make a move, like a butterfly tearing its cocoon! Make a move!”  Mehmet Murat Ildan Today is the first day of the rest of the year! Don’t begin the way you ended. Start new, start fresh, and make a difference starting today! Be someone’s miracle each day, and if you can’t, be a part of someone’s great day. Change your attitude, your perspective, and stop living in the past. Start this year with joy in your heart. Whatever life brings you, you can face it because you are strong enough. Look at it this way, if you are alive and reading…
