    I Need A Vacation…

Recess (Going On Holiday) By Jesi Scott   “Come and play” the soft voice whispers in my ear, And I open my eyes to see who is there. “Come and play” it whispers again As I rub and stretch the sleep from my skin.   “It’s nice out here. Come and see.” But I ignore the words and drink my tea. “Please come and play. I’m lonely and bored.” Instead I read the news and leave the voice ignored.   “Won’t you at least look outside?” I glance at the pile of dishes needing to be washed and dried. “Isn’t the sky looking especially blue?” It does remind me…

Monday’s Muse: When Life Gives You Lemons

Today begins that annual event that makes childish hearts beat fast with joy and glee. At the same time parents cringe and begin planning things so that these same children will not drive said parents crazy with choruses of “I’m bored, there’s nothing to do” for the following week. Yes, I am talking about Spring Break. And guess what. It’s raining today. Not that I’m all that surprised by that. To be honest, today’s rain is just an extension of a really terrible weekend. It’s as if it were our turn to have Charlie Brown’s rain cloud settle on us. Nothing really went well. Everyone took turns being irritable and…

    Monday’s Muse: Tightrope Walker

My weekend was a long one. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not a big fan of the long weekend when it just won’t end. When it’s a good one, time goes by quickly, right? This one wasn’t particularly bad, but it wasn’t the greatest either. To say I’m happy that Monday is finally here is an understatement. I get two days before I’m back in my closet hiding out with the wine, cheese, crackers, pillows. blankets, books, music…my little padded room with all the necessities I need to make it through a holiday weekend with four kids. Truthfully, I’m only dreading it because three of them are…

    Hello, November

Last night was Halloween here in the States. Actually, does any other country celebrate Halloween besides Mexico with Dias de los Muertos? Who else sends their children out one night a year to go to stranger’s houses to accept candy and treats? But it’s so much fun to dress up and pretend to be someone, or something, else, isn’t it? The neighborhood we live in is great. The neighbors really go out of their way to make it special for the kids, and one family do a haunted house every year. You can go through their home and partake of the Halloween fun. Plus, this neighborhood is really safe. We’re…

    Happy Celebrations!

Firstly, Happy Easter, everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day today. This day is a big one here at Chez Lunatic because we are celebrating two holidays: Easter and the Tornado’s 3rd Birthday. We’ve already had our egg hunt, dinner is in the crock pot cooking away, the cake is cooling so it can be frosted, and presents are hidden so the Tornado doesn’t make a mess before dinner. I think it’s pretty awesome to be celebrating his birthday today. He and I are the only two in our small family to have birthdays on holidays. (Mine falls on Mother’s Day (U.S.) every few years.) Secondly, I’d like…

    Make It Count

“For a new year to bring you something new, make a move, like a butterfly tearing its cocoon! Make a move!”  Mehmet Murat Ildan Today is the first day of the rest of the year! Don’t begin the way you ended. Start new, start fresh, and make a difference starting today! Be someone’s miracle each day, and if you can’t, be a part of someone’s great day. Change your attitude, your perspective, and stop living in the past. Start this year with joy in your heart. Whatever life brings you, you can face it because you are strong enough. Look at it this way, if you are alive and reading…
