    Remember When?

Minus the stroller and the knitting, and with less grass, (although it probably all applied at some point), this could very well be a version of my Granny doing the laundry. I was thinking about her a bit ago while I was doing my own laundry. I had just taken some of the Tornado’s blankets outside to dry on my makeshift washing line because they are light enough that they will dry more quickly in the sun than in the dryer. That saves a little on the electricity albeit a very small amount. But every little drop in the bucket eventually adds up. Anyway, I was thinking how nice it…

    Writing Group Sunday!

It’s THAT day again! I really do enjoy my writing group Sundays. It’s always such a boost to go and be with people who have to write, people who have such wonderful stories to share with the world. One of the best things about our group is that we are a pretty diverse herd. We have our resident poet (me) although there are others who write poems as well. We have a paranormal romance writer, a historical fiction writer, a sci-fi/fantasy writer, a faith-based writer, a young adult writer, a literary writer, and even a comic artist. The critiques coming from such a diverse group is always helpful, and sometimes…

    Update About the Blog

Good morning everyone! I know it’s ridiculously early here in Texas. I’ve actually been up for about an hour and a half. Still not sure what woke me up but I am very certain that as soon as I get this posted I am totally going back to bed and getting some more sleep. I wanted to give an update about the blog. I have been having some problems with people not being able to see most of the fonts. I am using a WordPress theme that limits me to using only Google Webfonts. I have been trying to figure out how to bypass that but since I am not…

    Are you hanging in there?

Hey, y’all! Hope you guys and gals are all hanging in there with me. I’m still working on the site but I think I have it mostly the way I want it. Of course, being female, and from Texas, I could change my mind next week and decide I can’t stand any of it. But never fear, I’m setting up a development site to play around with as well so I won’t have to mess around with the actual site, until I’m happy with things. As it is, I hope you like what I’ve done. I’ve tried to make it a little more accessible, and easier to move around in.…

    Happy Independence Day!

Happy Birthday America! Earlier this week I was reading a couple of different books of poetry. One is titled Committed To Memory and the other is a volume of American poetry. In the first book is a poem all Americans have heard and most remember a line or two from it, though I doubt most remember the name of the poet who wrote it. It’s still as moving today as it was back when it was put on Lady Liberty’s pedestal.  It’s The New Colossus written by Emma Lazarus. In the second book there are quite a number of patriotic poems and some names of poets that surprised me. How…

    Look! It’s a book…in a tree!

Yes, I am  trying to distract you all. I have nothing to write today. All has been quiet on the western front the past couple of days. The most fun thing I’ve done is go to the library, which for me is quite a lot of fun actually. I get lost in libraries, and bookstores. Well, not really lost but I do lose track of time. My mom used to say you could put me in a room with a book and come back hours later and still find me there. It was pretty accurate. I used to get in trouble for reading so much, too, because I’d read and…

    Wednesday Ramblings

I thought I’d give a little update about the goings-on here at Chez Lunatic since it’s actually been some time since I’ve posted much of anything really. I don’t know why traveling takes something out of you but it does, and last week was spent trying to catch up with things I’d missed here at home. My down-time I spent catching up on some reading and movies that I’d missed. I managed to finish three books: The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, and Bridget Jones’ Diary by Helen Fielding. I also watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (actually I…

    Still Here

Hi everyone! I just wanted to post a short note to let you all know that I am actually here. I did make it back home in one piece but have been busy ever since. Why is it that you take a vacation to get a rest but then you need to rest from your vacation? I had a lovely time in Chicago, and I still think I could live there very easily if I didn’t mind the taste of the water or the fact that my allergies were a nightmare all weekend. That, plus the cost of living there is higher than here in Dallas. Anyway, this week has…

    My Vacation Update

Hey everyone! Believe it or not but I am still alive, just barely. I am having a really good time so far here in the Windy City, and right now we are waiting for Laura’s ex to return her kids so we can go to dinner. So, I thought I’d try and get a post out today since I’ve missed two days. Here’s what I’ve been doing. Friday night Laura took me out to a fantastic Greek restaurant, and then we went to a pub (The Lion’s Head) and had drinks and got caught up on each other’s lives. Then we went to the cabaret she wanted to go to,…

Friday’s Features on Thursday: Connie Bensley

I’m taking some time out right now to go ahead and get a post in for you today. I’ve still got quite a bit to do before I go to bed tonight, and I’m still not packed because I have to get my own laundry done instead of the kids’, who also need laundry done for the weekend. But, it’s all slowly coming together and I’ll be alright by morning. For our featured site this week I’m linking to one I just recently began following. It’s Madstoffa’s Crunchy House. There’s quite a lot there so I haven’t worked my way through it but I am sure that you’ll enjoy it…
