    It Happened Again

Hi guys. Sorry for the radio silence. Once again JetPack and my host server had an argument and one decided to take my blog prisoner and hold it for ransom. I finally got it back last night when my host server decided to give JetPack permission to work again. Alright, so maybe it sounds more like a union strike. Either way, I was unable to access my blog until now. So Hi!!!!!! How are you? I’ve missed you all so much. 🙂 On the upside, the break has given me a bit of a rest and I’m beginning to feel like writing again. I’ve been poeming over at The Well…

    Thoughts While Reading Last Night

Last week a friend of mine downloaded the Goodreads app to her cell phone and joined up with many others on a 2017 book reading challenge. You set a goal of a certain amount of books to read within the year and then off you go to meet that limit. I have never joined that since I generally go through phases where I’ll be in one mode or another. For example, I’m currently in knitting mode which means that’s pretty much what I’ll be doing until I’ve had enough. Then I’ll begin something else that catches my fancy, like reading. I’ll binge read until I can’t read anymore and then…

    It Takes a Big Man…

It takes a lot to admit you’re wrong, but it takes even more to admit to your faults. One of mine is that I am very sensitive to being told I’m not responsible or that I am a bad parent. Don’t tell me I’m either because unless you are around me and my kids 100% of the time you have no idea whether I am a good parent or not, or if I’m completely irresponsible. If you see one moment out of thousands of moments, does that even give you the right to judge me on it? Maybe. Maybe not. But what if you are around me and my kids…

    So Far So Good

So, here we are, four days into the new year, and there’s already been some changes as you can obviously see. The new look is working for me for now, but we’ll see how it goes. With my restless ways you never know what you’re going to find when you drop by. Next. I don’t remember if I shared the news or not but my peace poem was published along with the other Poets For Peace members in Praxis Magazine Online. Every year they are going to publish the anthology for the group. The download is free and you can get it here (clickable link). There were so many wonderful…

    I’m Back…

Happy Blogiversary! Today marks three years since I began blogging. The last several months there’s not been any activity going on here on the blog due to some unforeseen technical problems involving my host server. After months going back and forth with them it looks like the problem was fixed and it turned out to be a simple solution. For whatever reason, my permissions were completely deleted. Meaning: I didn’t have access to my blog…at all. But, it’s all fixed now. But, we’re not done yet. Once again I’m going to update and refresh my whole look here at Chez Lunatic. Expect a new theme and maybe even a new…

    Goings-On and Happenings

This last week has seen quite a lot going on around Chez Lunatic…well, maybe not a lot, but there have definitely been goings-on and stuff. So, some newsy updates and stuff. Thanks to Lizzie, I entered into a poetry contest. A few weeks ago she sent me a link to The Poetry Nook. They offer a weekly poetry contest with prizes and she’s won an honorable mention twice. This is my second week participating. I won’t find out until next Wednesday (the 20th) whether I’ve placed somewhere in their lists but still, it’s a step in a direction for me that I haven’t taken yet. Now, even though I didn’t…

    Uh-oh…OOPS! I Did It Again

Dear Lunatics, You may be saying to yourselves “I can’t quite put my finger on it but there’s something different about Chez Lunatic today.” Well, you’d be correct. There is something different. I got a new haircut. No, I didn’t. Really. But I did change the theme because I accidentally somehow deleted my old theme when it was updating. I swear, all I did was click on the update button and it did the rest. Since I couldn’t get the stylesheet to come back up I decided it was time for a new (ish) look. *pay no attention to the man-ahem, woman-behind the curtain* I like it. It pops, and…

Let It Go, Let It Go…But I Can’t

In a few weeks Chez Lunatic will be moving into new digs. This means there is going to be a whirlwind of packing going on for the next few weeks, and I am NOT looking forward to it. Let me make this very clear. I love moving. I love being in a new place and setting order up and getting things organized into new spaces. I love the thrill and excitement of being someplace Other than where I was, of learning new neighborhoods and meeting new neighbors (though I don’t think anyone will be able to match our current neighbors whom our whole family has come to love in such…

    Freelancing It

Heighdy Ho, Lunatics! I know. It’s been such a long time since I’ve posted anything. I have a very good defense, however. I was well and truly ill. First, I ended up with a sinus infection that affected my inner ears and balance. It’s rather hard to write anything when what you are looking at goes a little wobbly at the edges then falls sideways and makes you feel like you are standing in an upside down room. While I was at the clinic trying to discover the reason for that, I was told my thyroid gland is enlarged. There are a few reasons for it (all able to…

    Talkin’ ‘Bout Things

Thing the First: Son 3 finished his homework in record time yesterday: 3 pages in 30 minutes (four if you count math front and back but he only has to do even or odd numbers depending on the day-still…it’s multiplying fractions, ’nuff said). We struggle every day getting him to do ANY kind of writing. He hates it, and I don’t mean like he hates ketchup. I mean like Dark Side of The Force hates writing. Since Kindergarten. The last one and a half weeks he’s been getting his homework done without too much urging on my part. (We hates math. Simply hates it.) It’s awesome. How and why?…
